I've loved machines for as long as I can remember. The moment I could get on one, I did.
At 14 I began working with Bob Hick Earthmoving - a trusted, family-owned New Zealand business with over 55 years of experience in the earthmoving and land development industry. That's where I built my foundation. Working my way up from Moxy dump trucks through to bulls and scoops, scrapers, diggers and dozers - I learned the trade properly from the ground up, alongside some of the best in the business.
After 8 years of hands-on experience across residential, civil, and rural projects, I founded Xterra Earthworks with a small crew and a clear goal - deliver quality results and help our clients get real value out of their land.

With nearly two decades of experience across civil construction, earthworks, subdivisions, concrete construction and landscaping, Jarrad brings a wealth of practical knowledge to every project. Throughout his career, he's worked across everything from large-scale civil works and residential developments to high-end concrete preparation, excavation and site works, giving him a well-rounded understanding of the industry.
Jarrad's dedication and commitment to quality saw him progress from being a company's first full-time excavator operator into a management role, where he was responsible for leading multiple operators and overseeing projects across the greater North Island. This experience has strengthened his leadership, planning and problem-solving skills while never losing sight of the importance of quality workmanship on the ground.
